Immigration

Neither side of the aisle has a proper understanding of immigration. Our state and federal government need to work together on this issue collectively. Mandatory six month visas, health checks and psychological evaluations should be given to those entering The US legally for the first time. We need to develop programs such as naturalized citizenship clinics and In-country green card workshops to help unauthorized immigrants to become tax paying citizens. Amnesty programs to help unauthorized immigrants who can prove that they have lived as a law abiding citizen for more than ten years to become a legal citizen would also be a productive tool. Women's Rights

I wholeheartedly support the rights of women to be treated fairly and equally - to be promoted and paid fairly as others according to her experience and not based on her gender. I believe a woman has the right to decide how she wants to live and what she wants to do with her life and her body. If a woman cannot tell a man what to do with his body, what gives him the right to do it to hers? No person has the right to inflict their beliefs and morals upon another human being. Read More

Police Reform

The police department should not be defunded, it should be restructured. It should be funded to educate police officers on the diversity of the different cultures in the communities they are policing. This can be accomplished through education and workshops on the cultural differences in the communities, as well as positive police engagement at ethnic community based events, in addition to establishing civilians' complaints review boards made up of everyday citizens as well as police to look into excessive force complaints and police policy issues. Gun Rights

Every mentally sound American has the right to bear arms. The constitution covers gun ownership,  but how we manage owning a gun is what needs to be addressed. The Firearm Safety Awareness Board will conduct background checks before all firearm purchases and as it is deemed necessary. Owners must also be required to attend a weapons training class before purchasing a firearm. This is not an issue to fight about but an issue to resolve. A Gun Rights Awareness Board needs to be established to monitor the mental stability and patterns of behavior of gun owners. Citizens who noticed a pattern of instability can report the issue to the board who will investigate it and can report it to the police if deemed necessary. Read More

LGBTQIA + Community

The LGBTQIA+ community plays a vital role in promoting inclusivity and acceptance in society.  The people within this community are essential for creating a space where individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations feel valued, respected and supported. Embracing inclusivity means recognizing and celebrating the unique experiences, struggles and achievements of LGBTQIA+ individuals. It involves acknowledging the intersectionality within this community, including diverse backgrounds and cultural identities.

Inclusions also entails advocation for equal rights and protections for all members of the LGBTQIA+ Community. Tax Reform

Tax reform is a topic of significant importance for Washington State citizens. With it's current tax structure  heavily  reliant on sales and property taxes, there is a growing demand for us to have a more equitable and progressive system. Tax reform aims to address the income inequality gap and ensure a fair distribution of the tax burden. By implementing measures such as a capital gains tax or a higher marginal tax rate for the wealthiest individuals, the state can generate additional revenue to support vital public services like education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

A well-designed tax reform plan would also lower the impact on low income and middle class households. A  rental cap should be placed on properties in low-income property zones, ensuring that any changes do not disproportionately burden those already  facing financial challenges. Additionally, transparency and public involvement in the reform process are crucial to ensure a sense of ownership and accountability in  all public officials. By enacting meaningful tax reform in Washington State, we can work towards a more balanced and just tax system that benefits all citizens . It is time us to make a change!

Public Safety

They tell us our buses are safe to ride - I say they are out of touch with every day life. As a retiree from  King County Metro and having an understanding of the struggles with work place safety for all of us. Public safety is a top concern for Washington Voters, who seek communities where we can live and work for their families without fear.

Policymakers must use effective strategies that enhance law efforts, promote community  engagement, invest in preventative measures and adequately fund our law enforcement agencies, providing them with necessary resources and training they need to keep citizens safe. In addition, insurance requirements should be increased for law enforcement agencies so that the financial responsibility of lawsuits doesn't fall on taxpayers just trying to live their lives.

Our goals must be to build stronger relationships between law enforcement and the communities that they serve through policing programs that can build trust and encourage community collaboration. It is equally important to invest in prevention initiatives such as mental health programs, substance abuse treatment and support services to address the root causes of crime - striking a balance  between  law enforcement, community  engagement and legislating preventive measures is critical for ensuring the safety and well-being of all Washington State citizens.

Climate Change

Nobody can do business with a sick planet.  Climate change is an urgent global issue that requires immediate attention and collective action. To effectively address climate change, several key measures are needed. It is crucial that we begin a more aggressive transition to cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy. This involves reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and embracing renewable energy alternatives such as solar and wind power. Additionally, we must prioritize energy efficiency and conservation efforts to minimize our carbon footprint.

Alongside these efforts, promoting sustainable transportation systems, implementing stricter emissions regulations for all fully non-electric vehicles, and preserving natural habitats are equally essential. Education and awareness campaigns are vital to engage individuals and communities in adopting sustainable practices and making informed decisions. Collaboration between governments, industries, and individuals is paramount to ensuring effective climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies are implemented worldwide. By collectively embracing these measures, we can safeguard our planet for future generations and mitigate the devastating impacts of climate change.

Youth LBGTQIA+ Community

Protecting our young people of the LGBTQIA+ community is a key part to having a society that embraces diversity and equality for all. It is crucial to create safe spaces where young individuals can express their true selves without fear of discrimination, harassment, or violence. We must advocate for stronger anti-bullying regulations and stricter behavioral policies in schools and educational institutions, ensuring that every student feels safe for  being who they are. Promoting LGBTQIA+ awareness and education will help to eradicate stereotyping and bias against these young people. Providing counseling and mental health support is critical to their well-being. Together, we can build a future where every individual is celebrated, valued, and protected.
